Encourage them to unleash their creative talents and create artwork to be entered into the Reflections Art Program!

 

Reflections Program-Introduction

 PTA’s national Reflections Art Program has brought the arts to life for more than 10 million students since 1969. And California State PTA and its members, families and kids are on the forefront of this amazing program, which increases community awareness of the importance of arts in education.

Reflections encourages students of all ages to:

Unleash creative talents and be inspired

• Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
• Experience the fun and joy of making art
• Tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
• Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

PARTICIPATION IS EASY, EXCITING AND EMPOWERING

All students attending PTA schools sponsoring the program are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:

• Dance/choreography
• Literature
• Photography
• Film production
• Music composition
• Visual arts.

Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round. State-level Award of Excellence honorees receive:

• The opportunity to showcase their artwork at the California State PTA Convention
• Prizes including an Award of Excellence medal, certificate and a $100 savings bond presented on stage at convention
• An expense-paid trip for the award-winning student and one parent/guardian to convention.

National-level Award of Excellence honorees are recognized at the National PTA Convention, plus their artworks are featured in Reflections’ popular traveling national exhibit.

WE NEED THEMES!

But the art can’t start without an annual theme, and we need your help: Children and youth can submit a national theme to serve as the inspiration for Reflections artists and their original works. Students submitting the winning theme receive $100 and recognition at the National PTA Convention.

MARCH MALE MADNESS

New Membership Challenge to Engage More Men in PTA

When 16 new male members join our PTSA between March 1-31, our PTSA can qualify to win $500 to support the programs and services our students and school community values most.

Here’s the deal:

Sixteen new male members must join our PTSA between March 1-31

Each qualifying PTA unit that meets all criteria will be entered into a drawing for $500. The winning PTA will be drawn on stage at the 2015 California State PTA Annual Convention held from April 30-May 3 in Sacramento.

We will have a table at Open House on March 9, 2015 to accept new memberships, so if a male in your family has not joined EDHS PTSA we are asking for their support to become a member of El Diamante High School PTSA.  Please join us on Open House and when you become a member male or female you will get a chance to spin our wheel and win a prize. 

Anyone can join PTSA- dads, moms, grandfathers, grandmothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunts, teachers, community members, and business's.  If you will not be attending Open House please feel free to email me at rodartefamily@comcast.net and I would be more than happy to send you a membership envelope or you may pick one up in the front office.

El Diamante High School PTSA Scholarships

We are now accepting EDHS PTSA Scholarship Applications!

 

Please pick up application in the student services office.

 

Deadline is Friday, April 3, 2015 by 3:30p.m.

 

Scholarships are for $250.00.

El Diamante High School PTSA Senior Scholarship Criterion 2014-2015

 

          1.  Must be a current PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) member.

          2.  GPA of at least 2.5

          3.  Plan to attend a two of four year college in the fall of 2015.

          4.  Must submit proof of college acceptance, if awarded the scholarship.

          5.  DEADLINE:  Friday, April 3, 2015, by 3:30p.m.

     

     

 

PTA Information Alert

Information Alert January 9, 2015 Governor releases 2015-16 budget proposal Today, Gov. Jerry Brown released his 2015-16 budget proposal. Read the full summary of the Governor’s Budget Proposal. California State PTA is pleased to see that education is a priority in the Governor’s budget proposal. We have consistently advocated for increased education funding and this proposal helps advance that objective. California’s economy is recovering and with this budget we're on the road back to restoring past budget cuts to schools -- though there are many miles to go until California fully invests in all students at the level they need and deserve to be successful. We’re also pleased substantial additional funding is being proposed to support the smooth implementation of the new Common Core State Standards. There are many other aspects of the budget proposal that we will be analyzing in the coming weeks. For instance, PTA recognizes that many factors such as health have a significant impact on student achievement. We need to make sure social, mental and health services are in place to support children and families. Want to share your initial thoughts about the state budget proposal?
